Role Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Human Resources Coordinator to join our People team. This role is ideal for someone early in their HR career who is eager to learn, grow, and take ownership of core administrative processes that keep our team running smoothly. The HR Coordinator will support a wide range of HR functions, from payroll and benefits administration to employee recordkeeping and compliance tasks.

This position will initially report to the Chief People and Compliance Officer, and will work in close partnership with the SVP of Finance.

The Human Resources Coordinator will contribute in the following ways:

Payroll & Timekeeping

  • Assist with payroll processing, including data entry, timesheet verification, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Audit paid time off (PTO) balances and ensure accurate accruals.
  • Track and reconcile employee hours, overtime, and leave balances.

Leave Management

  • Process and track employee leave requests (PTO, sick leave, FMLA, parental leave, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local leave laws.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees with leave-related questions.

HR Operations

  • Maintain and update employee records in the HRIS system.
  • Prepare employment verification letters and respond to external verification requests.
  • Support onboarding and offboarding by preparing documentation, coordinating system access, and ensuring completion of compliance requirements.
  • Assist with scheduling interviews, orientations, trainings, and other HR-related events.

Employee Support & Administration

  • Respond to routine HR inquiries regarding policies, benefits, and procedures.
  • Assist with administering benefit programs (health, dental, vision, retirement, etc.) and help resolve employee issues.
  • Coordinate with payroll and benefits providers as needed.
  • Help maintain HR metrics, reports, and audits to ensure data accuracy.
  • Support HR projects such as employee engagement activities, compliance audits, and process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1–2 years of experience in HR, payroll, or administrative support preferred; internships and co-op experience welcome.
  • Basic understanding of HR laws, regulations preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with HRIS or payroll systems (TriNet preferred).
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Jira and Confluence experience preferred.
