ABOUT THE POSITION:

Verato is seeking to hire a Senior Accountant. The Senior Accountant will be a key member of the finance team, and the backbone of our accounting function. The Senior Accountant will wear many hats and take on diverse responsibilities that include accounting, financial reporting, process improvement and management support. We are looking for someone who is highly motivated, highly organized, has a strong sense of integrity, and can take full ownership of critical company processes. This position reports to the VP Finance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform and manage the financial statement close process; prepare and enter journal entries, reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts, prepare monthly consolidated financial statements
  • Manage revenue recognition and accounts receivable
  • Manage cost recognition and accounts payable
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial data in support of management reporting
  • Oversee and coordinate bi-monthly payroll process
  • Play a key role in cash management and other financial operations
  • Play a key role in the year-end financial audit, as well as any statutory audits and compliance activities that may arise from time to time
  • Coordinate and assist third party tax resources in the preparation of tax filings and returns
  • Drive process improvement projects including new technology implementation, to streamline and simplify existing processes and reduce manual activities
  • Play a key role in the development, implementation and monitoring of finance and accounting policies and procedures
  • This is a hands-on role that requires a strong understanding of US GAAP, a high degree of independence and the ability to maintain high performance under tight deadlines.
Requirements

EDUCATION / CREDENTIALS:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Preferred: CPA or CMA certification

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • At least 5 to 8 years of accounting experience, with demonstrated evidence of increased responsibility
  • Advanced Excel skills essential
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Competence with operating general ledger software
  • Familiarity with managing subscription objects in SalesForce a plus
  • Grit, creativity, hustle and a hands-on approach
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in accuracy
  • Multi-entity and foreign currency experience a plus
  • Familiarity with SaaS and/or technology subscription businesses a plus
  • Familiarity with business intelligence reporting and FP&A tools
  • Experience with payroll and tax-matters a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Big 4 Accounting Firm experience is a plus
