About the role

As the Vice President of Business Development you will join a team transforming the Commercial function at Syapse and driving significant growth of revenue and the business as a whole. You’ll leverage your existing network in Oncology Life Sciences to take off from day one and have a go-get, positive attitude in delivering new opportunities. Far from a “lone wolf”, you thrive on teamwork and relish being part of a small, nimble high performing team openly sharing your experiences and knowledge to quickly advance deals across the organization. You will utilize your knowledge and expertise of real-world evidence and leverage our unique blend of deep Community Health Systems data, molecular lab data, and comprehensive understanding of the cancer patient journey to guide strategic discussions with potential partners.

What You’ll Accomplish

As the Vice President of Business Development you will join a team transforming the Commercial function at Syapse and driving significant growth of revenue and the business as a whole.

In your first year you will:

  • Meet or exceed aggressive revenue and booking goals during your first year.
  • Increasing Syapse’s share of voice within Life Science companies
  • Sell a wide variety of Real World Evidence offerings and close complex multi-year strategic collaborations and find new opportunities with existing clients
  • Be instrumental in achieving team revenue targets

What you bring to the table:

  • Proven track record of sustained success in complex Life Sciences sales
  • Being “The Closer”: Your persistence in closing deals via your deep relationships with C-suite executives and understanding of the power structure at top 20 biopharma
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Life Sciences buying process.You work skillfully in tough situations; can win concessions without damaging relationships; can be both direct and forceful as well as diplomatic; gains trust quickly; and has a good sense of timing.
  • Deep Real World Evidence & Oncology Life Sciences network. You know our clients’ businesses, understand their pain points, and the value our Data & Insights can deliver.
  • Strategic Mind. You know decisions aren’t made in a vacuum in large biopharma. You know by whom and how decisions are made and large strategic collaborations are born in these companies. You relish the multiple strategic relationships you build across a business, creating multiple redundant layers of champions and stakeholders to push your projects forward in all critical parts of the decision-making apparatus.


The target base salary for this position is $195,000 to $240,000.

This base salary is only a part of a total compensation package that includes: a generous quarterly performance driven incentive program based on personal and team performance, benefits, 401k with match, flexible PTO and incentive pay for eligible roles. Individual pay may vary from the target range as a number of factors including market forces, experience, location, disparities in market data and other relevant business considerations may all factor into final compensation.
