Stellar Health is hiring Senior Software Engineers for our NYC based team. Our current team is small and we want to double the size of our engineering organization this year. This means we need to bring on Senior Engineers who can run independently, help us recruit & hire, and take on mentorship responsibilities as we add more junior members of the team.

The Stellar Health engineering team is experienced and has worked to build a mature engineering culture from day 1: we have implemented product development best practices and operate in a way that gives every engineer, regardless of seniority, the opportunity to directly impact the product and our customers.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for building, architecting, and delivering big parts of our core product against business needs. Your will also work closely with our founding team on defining product roadmap, specifications, and priorities.

Every engineer, regardless of seniority will be asked to:

  • Write clear and concise production code for the Stellar Health Platform.
  • Provide effective and constructive feedback by reviewing others’ work.
  • Set consistent standards for code; testing and fixing bugs throughout the process.
  • Establish continuous improvement processes that impact how we deliver code and how we work together to build product.
  • Gather data insights and build models for product improvements or for internal use.

Senior Engineers should have:

  • 5+  years experience in writing production code and delivering features for end-users
  • The ability and drive to work independently, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple priorities
  • High levels of collaboration. While we value the ability to work independently, we also value engineers who seek out help and fresh ideas from their peers
  • Experience with Django or other web-based frameworks preferred, but not a must
  • Python experience or experience with other backend languages (Java / C++ / Go / Ruby) and a desire to learn.
  • Some understanding of Javascript fundamentals; previous experience delivering front end components is a nice-to-have

Who will love this job:

  • You thrive off of developing and supporting your peers and teammates; no job is too small for you.
  • You get things done and you love working in a dynamic environment; we move quickly and we need a teammate who will too.
  • You understand, appreciate and enjoy the responsibility and accountability that comes with being assigned high level ownership over projects and their success.
  • You have a knack for explaining technical processes concisely (even to non-engineers), and work well with cross-functional internal teams.
  • You are looking to learn and grow, knowing that this position will involve a lot of ambiguity to deal with, with the support from the organization to help you navigate it.
Stellar Health is an equal opportunity employer.
