About Stellar Health:
Historically, US Healthcare has relied on a fee-for-service reimbursement system where providers are paid based on the quantity of patient visits and procedures, rather than the quality of health outcomes.
At Stellar Health, we help primary care providers put patient health first. Our platform - a mix of technology, people, and analytics - supports providers at the point of care, delivering real-time patient information, activating practice staff, and empowering providers and care teams with incentives that reward the work they are already doing to keep patients healthy. Using the Stellar App, our web-based, point-of-care tool; practices receive a simple checklist of recommended actions that support the best quality care. Providers and care teams are then paid monthly for each action they complete, and Payors save money in reduced healthcare costs along the way.
Stellar is a US-based Health-tech backed by Top VCs (General Atlantic, Point72, & Primary Venture Partners) with an established product & proven operating model. We’ve shown that we make a real difference for physician practices and their patients.
About the position:
The Vice President of Provider Success & Performance will set the strategy and own the end-to-end results for Stellar's total cost of care risk provider network, ACO and payor contracts. This leader will oversee two functions – Provider Success (provider relationship management, escalation, and accountability) and Performance (aggregate, network performance measurement and target-setting) – into a single, integrated strategy for maximizing quality performance, and total cost of care across the entire book of providers.
This role directly manages each of these functions and their teams, and is accountable for translating enterprise-level performance goals into an operating model that scales as the provider network grows. You will set the vision and strategic course for both functions, ensure they operate as one cohesive organization, and represent provider performance in conversations with senior internal leadership, Payors, and top provider executives. You will report to the P&L owner of the ACO and Payor Risk Business (titled “Nova”).
What you’ll do:
Ensure Delivery of Performance in all ACO/Risk Contracts: Own the risk business’ aggregate performance results – quality performance, total cost of care, and any other aspect that impact Medical Loss Ratio / Shared Savings / Surplus – across the full provider portfolio. Establish the benchmarks, targets, and executive reporting cadence used to track progress network-wide.
Strategy & Vision: Set the overarching strategy and multi-quarter roadmap for provider performance across the ACO, defining how the Provider Success and Performance functions work together to close performance gaps and hit enterprise targets.
Team Leadership & Development: Directly manage, coach, and develop individuals leading the Provider Success and Performance teams. Build organizational capability across both teams – hiring, structuring, and developing talent to support a growing provider network.
Provider-Level Accountability, at Scale: Ensure every provider has a data-driven action plan to close performance gaps, and that the Provider Success team is equipped to execute those plans consistently across the network.
Insight Generation & Executive Reporting: Partner with Med Econ, and Enterprise Analytics teams to convert aggregate performance data into strategic insight. Communicate performance, risk, and opportunity to Stellar’s senior leadership and, as needed, to Payor and provider executive stakeholders.
Provider Escalation & Executive Relationships: Serve as a key point of escalation for the most complex or highest-stakes provider relationships, and build direct relationships with executive leadership at Stellar’s largest medical groups and health systems.
Cross-Functional Strategy: Partner with Product, Med Econ, and Clinical leadership to shape clinical programs and total-cost-of-care strategy at the portfolio level, ensuring the Provider Success and Performance teams are aligned with broader company strategy.
Operational Scalability: Build and standardize the playbooks, workflows, and tooling used across both teams so performance management and provider engagement remain consistent and effective as the network scales.
Budget & Resource Planning: Own headcount planning, budget, and resourcing decisions across the Provider Success and Performance functions.
Travel on occasion to medical groups and health systems, up to 25% of time.
As VP, Nova Performance, you should have:
At least 12+ years of experience in healthcare operations, with direct career experience in an ACO/managed care organization OR value-based care operations
At least 5+ years of experience managing managers and leading multi-team organizations, including experience developing senior individual leaders (e.g., Senior Managers or Directors).
A demonstrated track record owning aggregate performance targets – not just individual portfolios – across a large book of providers or accounts.
Experience setting strategy and translating it into an operating model that others can execute against, including 0 → 1 initiative launches.
Executive presence and experience communicating performance, risk, and strategy to senior leadership, and, ideally, Payor or provider executive audiences.
The ability to strategically prioritize, negotiate deliverables across internal and external stakeholders, and make clear, decisive trade-offs at an organizational level.
Excellent data analysis skills, including fluency with Excel and BI tools to synthesize performance data across a large portfolio.
Exceptional communication skills and the ability to build immediate trust across all levels of internal and external stakeholders, from front-desk users to executive teams of large health systems.
