Company Mission
Photon gives patients ownership of prescriptions. Our platform enables clinicians to send prescriptions to patients via text, giving patients the freedom to choose the pharmacy that works best for them. We’re building a simpler, more transparent prescription experience for patients, providers, and pharmacies.
Who We’re Looking For
Photon is at an inflection point. We need a marketing leader who can set the vision and do the work — someone who's as comfortable in a strategy conversation with the executive team as they are writing the first draft of a case study because it needs to ship.
This role indexes heavily on B2B product marketing, brand marketing, and content marketing That's where our most pressing needs are, and where you'll spend most of your time for at least the first few quarters. But you'll own marketing broadly: demand gen, events, partner marketing, website, whatever channels you determine the business needs. You don't need to be a hands-on expert in every channel. But you are expected to know enough to direct it well, and to bring in agencies, freelancers, or specialists where that's the faster path to good work. You do need to be fluent in overall marketing strategy, even in the channels you're not personally executing.
You'll have a budget, and real trust and freedom to experiment, test, and learn — including the freedom to be wrong sometimes. We're not looking for someone who shows up with all the answers on day one. We're looking for someone who's genuinely curious, willing to be challenged, and willing to push both themselves and the org past what's comfortable.
Core Responsibilities
- Set marketing strategy and priorities for Photon, and make the case for them clearly to the executive team and the broader company
- Own product marketing — positioning, messaging, and narrative that make it obvious why Photon is different, for both health systems and digital health buyers
- Partner with Photon’s Creative Director to build Photon's brand — voice, visual identity, and reputation — into something that reflects the ambition of the company
- Lead content marketing: case studies, thought leadership, blog, and other content that builds trust with a healthcare and health tech audience
- Take ownership of the rest of the marketing function — demand gen, campaigns, events, partner marketing, PR — directing internal efforts, contractors, or agencies as needed
- Propose and run experiments against a real budget, with a clear read on what's working and what isn't
- Build the marketing function itself as Photon grows: decide what to hire, what to outsource, and what tools and processes the team actually needs
- Partner closely with Sales, Product, and Leadership to keep marketing pulling in the same direction as the rest of the business
Required Qualifications
- Experience in content marketing, brand, communications, or editorial roles, ideally at a high-growth B2B technology company
- A track record leading a B2B marketing function, with demonstrated strength in product marketing, brand, and/or content marketing
- Experience in health tech, digital health, or a comparably complex/regulated B2B space — you understand how healthcare buyers think and what earns their trust
- Demonstrated ability to both set direction and inspire a team (even a small or extended one) and do the work yourself — write the doc, build the deck, ship the page
- Strategic fluency across the full marketing toolkit — you can speak knowledgeably about channels you're not personally running and know when to bring in outside expertise
- Strong written and verbal communication — you'll be one of the primary voices shaping how Photon is understood, internally and externally
- Low ego, high ownership — driven by outcomes for the business, not by protecting a title or a playbook
- Comfort with ambiguity and a genuine appetite for experimentation — you'd rather test and learn than wait for certainty
- Ability to work from our Brooklyn office at least three days per week
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience building or scaling a marketing function from a small base (deciding what to hire vs. outsource vs. tool)
- Familiarity with SEO, website CMS tools, lifecycle email, and lightweight design or creative tools
- Experience marketing specifically to both health systems and digital health/tech buyers
Why Join Us
Photon is reimagining how prescriptions move through the healthcare system—making the experience simpler, faster, and more transparent for patients, providers, and pharmacies alike. You’ll:
- Define how an ambitious healthcare infrastructure company explains itself to the world
- Work on a problem almost everyone you know has experienced, and help fix a system that's broken in ways most people just accept
- Take on a role with meaningful ownership, shaping marketing at an early-stage company from the ground up
- Decide how the function itself is built: what's hired, what's outsourced, what tools and process actually matter
- Get a real budget and real trust to experiment, test, and learn — including the freedom to be wrong sometimes
- Join a team that gives a shit — about the work, about each other, and about doing things the right way. High trust, high standards, and people who actually like spending time together
