Options MD is a Los Angeles based health-tech startup. They are building a platform that helps people with severe illnesses find and access better treatments for their disease. Their first use case is mental health, where over 50% of sufferers who try a medication will traditionally have a negative experience. These negative experiences result in mental health patients prematurely stopping treatment, developing follow-on diseases, and sometimes, committing suicide. Options MD disrupts this cycle of disappointment. Taking users from education through prescription, Options MD has developed an algorithm that analyzes patients' medical history along with non-traditional data points such as life goals, lifestyle, and sensitivity to side effects, and connects them with medications that not only treat symptoms but also improve their overall quality of life. They sell their services into employers and health insurers, where mental illness is the leading cause of disability leave and hospital visits for people under the age of 45.

The Co-CEO, Morgan Hewett, was formerly at Facebook and is a health tech marketer by trade. The Co-CEO, Kyle Pierce, is a former healthcare attorney with a background in data privacy. The leadership team is rounded out by their Chief Medical Officer, James Weinberger along with their Director of Clinical Research, Hants Williams. The co-founders were inspired to build Options MD after watching family members struggle to find the right medication and attempt suicide due to ineffective treatments.

Job Overview

Options MD is looking for a technology leader to build and scale its technology infrastructure. In addition to mobile app development, this responsibility would also include the creation of product features to enable innovation and understanding the health tech solutions that generate business value. In an ideal situation, this person would also have a general understanding of machine learning. While Options MD treatment algorithm is at the core of their company, their Head of Data Science will be leading the majority of Data Engineering.

While Los Angeles is the preferred location, this person can be located anywhere in the United States and is free to work remotely. Compensation is negotiable and will be a combination of salary and equity. This is a full-time position.

Skills

• Strategy & Product Development: The chosen candidate will develop and execute the technology architecture and strategy. They should understand how to enable innovation and create intrinsic value through application of new technological trends.
• Leadership: The Engineering Lead will be the conduit between the co-founders and the rest of the engineering team. Therefore, they must have the ability to lead a team of software engineers and people at various levels to manage product development and meet agreed upon goals.
• Test & Learn Methodology: This person will be consistently conducting patient and customer interviews and continually improving the product based on feedback.
• Communication: This person should feel comfortable to communicate the technology strategy to the executive team, investors, and external stakeholders.
• Passion: Options MD is looking for someone who is passionate about mental health. This person does not need to have any professional healthcare experience. Their passion could come from personal or professional experience.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience in coding in React Native and Node.js
• Typescript and Python languages
• Advanced technological skill set, knowledge of technical trends, and a demonstrated history with technology.
• Authorized to work in the United States
