Job Summary:
We seek a skilled and experienced Data Architect to join our Data Engineering team. The data architect will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing data solutions within our modern data platform designed to support our healthcare customers. This platform is designed to support key strategic business objectives within the organization and serves as our integrated, enterprise-wide data warehouse. It encompasses various systems and subsystems including operational and analytical applications, batch and API-based inbound/outbound customer data interfaces, and AI/ML & analytic platforms. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in data architecture, data engineering, data management, and cloud-based data solutions, focusing on designing scalable, reliable, performant, and secure data solutions.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Lead the identification, design, development, and optimization of robust data architecture and data solutions supporting our corporate data initiatives.
- Evaluate, identify, and implement emerging modern data technologies and platforms to support our corporate goals.
- Design and develop scalable and robust conceptual, logical, and physical data models, database schemas, and data warehouses to support key business requirements.
- Define and implement data model standards, policies, procedures, and best practices for data engineering, data management, data quality, and security.
- Champion initiatives that address gaps in data and process and identify solutions for improving the reliability and accuracy of the data platform.
- Determine standards and procedures for identification and collection of required data sources, validating processes, and recommending improvements to corporate data.
- Oversee and monitor frameworks that manage data across the organization accounting for data quality, integrity, observability, and security.
- Gain a deep understanding of the data and analytic landscape including data sources and assets, services, tools and software, and data products.
- Design solutions that ensure data security, access control, and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Define and maintain standards for data usage, access control, and compliance.
- Implement and manage data governance policies and procedures.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to data engineers, developers, and analysts.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment.
Skills/Abilities/Experience:
- Strong knowledge of large-scale data platform deployments and a proven track record of successful delivery.
- Deep understanding of database design principles, data modeling techniques, and modern data warehousing concepts.
- Highly proficient in SQL, with experience managing data across technologies such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redshift, Snowflake, Athena, MongoDB, and Microsoft SQL Server.
- Familiarity with emerging data strategies, technologies, concepts, and trends within data engineering.
- Experience leveraging Generative AI or AI/ML-based concepts within data engineering and/or data architecture.
- Knowledge of data security, access control, and compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).
- Strong ability to communicate complex data architecture designs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strategic thinker with leadership presence, capable of presenting data architecture strategies, projects, and progress to executive teams.
- Experience collaborating with engineers and business stakeholders, serving as the data subject matter expert (SME) across architectural contexts.
- Experience working in agile development environments for data projects.
- Healthcare industry experience is a plus.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Availability for on-call hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to address emergent issues or provide necessary support as dictated by operational demands (if applicable).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a data architecture and/or data engineering role using modern data technologies.
- 5+ years of experience developing within a cloud-based data warehouse platform (e.g., Snowflake, DataBricks, Azure Synapse).
- US Citizenship or Green Card is required (as mandated by federal regulations for this role).
- Currently possess or can obtain a DoT Public Clearance.
