Job Summary:
The Infrastructure Services team provides systems engineering and operational support for network-based server and storage hardware and software. The Senior Systems Engineer designs, manages and administers networks and systems, including servers (physical and virtual) and storage. Activities include assessment, design, implementation, configuration, documentation, coordination, control, maintenance, troubleshooting, security, usage monitoring, and the development of specialized procedures for systems. Responsible for capacity planning, tuning, system monitoring, system performance, and problem resolution across all aspects of the infrastructure.
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Install, configure, maintain, and manage network devices (including firewalls, switches, wireless), servers, storage and their associated operating systems
· Evaluate and/or recommend procurement of network devices, servers, storage systems, peripheral equipment, and systems monitoring/alerting software
· Investigate problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions
· Guide complex problems from identification to resolution across different departments, employees and/or systems
· Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties
· Investigate, recommend, and install enhancements and operating procedures that optimize network/systems availability
· Document system problems and resolutions for future reference
· Participate in and contribute to the planning and execution of business continuity and disaster recovery capabilities
· Contribute to the organization, processes, teams and product in a significant manner
· Adhere to organizational processes and procedures
· Work independently, and as a team member
· Exhibit initiative and drive to complete tasks promptly
· Display leadership qualities, take ownership of assigned responsibilities
· Complete special projects or other duties as assigned
· Occasional off-hour/evening/weekend and/or overtime hours will be required.
· Participation in a cyclic On-Call rotation process and carrying an On-Call phone will be required.
· Job requires occasional travel to remote data centers within the United States
· Assist in the migration of on-premises systems to AWS
· Design and implement AWS architecture solutions that meet business requirements
· Set up and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions using AWS CloudWatch, AWS Config, and third-party tools
· Ensure cloud infrastructure complies with security standards and best practices
· Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to AWS infrastructure and applications
Skills/Abilities/Experience:
· VMware ESXi, vCenter, and vSphere
· Palo Alto Firewall administration
· NetApp storage systems, ONTAP OS, and cloud storage
· Cisco devices: ASA firewalls, Nexus core switches, perimeter defense mechanisms, UCS servers/blades. Cisco certification is a plus
· TCP/IP-based LANs, VLANs, iSCSI and Fiber Channel SANs, and VPNs
· Microsoft Windows Server 2012/2016/2019 and Active Directory (DNS, DHCP, GPO management)
· Current Red Hat/CentOS Linux operating systems a plus
· Systems monitoring and management in a high-availability data center environment
· Federal Information Technology standards, guidelines, requirements, and programs such as NIST, DISA and DIACAP/RMF
· Experience optimizing cloud resources for performance and cost efficiency
· Experience implementing AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies and secure AWS environments a plus
· Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and Ansible to automate cloud infrastructure provisioning and management a plus
· Vulnerability management programs and patch management
· Able to think and act independently to resolve complex systems issues
· Able to provide technical and professional leadership, guidance, and training to others
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Minimum Qualifications:
· The ideal candidate will possess six years of hands-on experience and significant practical knowledge of Designing, implementing, maintaining, scaling, capacity management
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field or equivalent work experience
· 2 or more industry-standard job-related certifications are preferred.
· Must be eligible for and able to obtain federal ADP Level 2 clearance. Employment continuity is contingent upon passing an extended background check.

· Ability to stand and sit for extended periods.
· Ability to lift 10 lbs. weight.
