⚠️ WARNING ⚠️ This position requires solving an UNSOLVED PROBLEM in healthcare AI.

Is your happy place somewhere between a polished frontend and a reliable backend? If so, keep reading! At Integral, we build software that makes privacy practical and efficient. Our work lives at the intersection of thoughtful user experience and serious systems engineering, and we believe the best products come from engineers who enjoy thinking about both. If you like owning problems end-to-end, being thoughtful about the details that make a real difference, and building things that genuinely matter, you’ll feel right at home here. You MUST be willing to work in-person in San Francisco 4 days per week. We ARE a startup with shifting priorities, and you WILL need to be scrappy, adaptable, and comfortable with ambiguity. If you're looking for a cushy, well-defined eng role with established tickets and clear metrics, this is NOT for you.

About Integral: At Integral, we're pioneering privacy-preserving technologies for healthcare data. Our platform enables organizations to safely handle sensitive healthcare information while maintaining the highest standards of privacy and compliance.

The Role: We're seeking a Full-stack Engineer to lead our website based product initiatives. You'll focus on building robust, reusable components while collaborating with our design team to create exceptional UI patterns and interactions. You'll also own our API design to ensure optimal frontend performance.

This role offers a unique opportunity to build customer-facing UI components while also developing internal design systems that elevate our product. You'll have a meaningful voice in our UI architecture and technical decisions.

Key Challenges

  • Defining scalable patterns and data models to support customers and internal workflows
  • Building a clean and consistent visual experience for customers
  • Creating solutions for multimodal healthcare data (text, images, structured data)

What You'll Do

  • Design and build a scalable component library that powers our React-based application
  • Create high-fidelity UI components that faithfully implement our design system in code
  • Design intentional APIs and data models to support both UI elements and internal workflows
  • Craft smooth, responsive interactions and animations that enhance user experience
  • Partner with designers to refine UI patterns and ensure pixel-perfect implementation
  • Optimize frontend performance and accessibility across different devices and browsers
  • Contribute to our design system documentation and component API specifications
  • Implement advanced UI concepts like virtualized lists, complex form validation, and state management patterns

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years experience building production web applications with React and component-based architectures
  • Expert understanding of modern JavaScript/TypeScript, CSS, and frontend best practices
  • Experience with component testing frameworks (Jest, React Testing Library, Storybook)
  • Proficiency with NextJS or similar React frameworks
  • Deep understanding of frontend performance optimization techniques
  • Experience with design systems and component libraries (Material UI, Chakra, Tailwind, etc.)
  • Collaborative mindset with experience working alongside designers

Location & Schedule

  • Based in San Francisco
  • 4 days per week in-office for collaboration

What Makes This Role Special

  • Tackle one of the hardest problems in healthcare AI: understanding and protecting sensitive clinical data
  • Work on cutting-edge full-stack applications with immediate real-world impact
  • Help shape the future of privacy-preserving AI in healthcare
  • Join a team committed to ethical AI development with privacy at its core

In your application, please share examples of component libraries or design systems you've built and how you've collaborated with designers to create excellent user experiences. We're particularly interested in your approach to building intuitive interfaces with sophisticated interactions for complex data operations.
