At Diverge Health we are passionate about improving health access and outcomes for those most in need. We partner with primary care providers to improve the engagement and management of their Medicaid patients, offering independent practices with specialized resources and clinical programs to close gaps in care. Our teams work to address medical, social and behavioral patient needs, lowering healthcare costs and improving patient lives. Guided by our core values of humility, continuous learning and feeling the weight, our team is on a mission to strengthen communities from within, unlocking people's ability to live their healthiest lives.

We are looking for a Senior Cloud & Back-End Software Engineer to join our team! This is a hands-on, high-impact role that will contribute to the development and architecture of systems that power our healthcare technology platform. Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Technology, you will help strengthen the foundation and scalability of our cloud and data infrastructure, enabling better health outcomes for vulnerable populations.

What you’ll do

As the Senior Cloud & Back-End Software Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, building, and maintaining robust cloud-native back-end services and infrastructure. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable systems that power everything from care coordination to analytics. You’ll contribute to architectural decisions while remaining deeply involved in implementation, ensuring that our solutions are both visionary and grounded in execution.

Key Areas you’ll add value:

  • Architect and build scalable back-end services using cloud-native technologies, with a strong focus on AWS.
  • Design and implement APIs, event-based systems, and cloud-based microservices.
  • Architect and automate cloud-based services for application development.
  • Design and implement infrastructure components including CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, security, and deployment strategies.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions.
  • Contribute to the technical direction of the platform while remaining hands-on with coding and system implementation.
  • Continuously assess and improve system performance, security, and reliability.
  • Mentor team members and contribute to a culture of engineering excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.

What You Bring:

  • 6+ years of software engineering experience with a strong focus on cloud infrastructure and back-end systems.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS (Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS, SNS, SQS, Kafka, Event Bridge, API Gateway, Route53, Control Tower, CloudFormation/CDK, IAM, etc.) and Security & DevOps best practices.
  • Strong proficiency in JavaScript and Node.js. Experience with other languages like Python, Go, or Java is a plus.
  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining APIs and microservices.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD tools, infrastructure-as-code, observability, and cloud security principles.
  • Demonstrated experience in making architecture-level contributions while still engaging in implementation.
  • Experience integrating with third-party systems and working with data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, SQL/NoSQL databases).
  • Some experience with healthcare applications and restrictions.

Personal Characteristics

  • An equally empathetic and objective, humble and highly conscientious teammate that inspires and motivates others.
  • Strength in authentically connecting with people from all walks of life with empathy and humility.
  • A problem solver, someone who is energized by digging into the details of the work to bring new and innovative solutions to bear.
  • Superpowers in communication and attention to detail; organized and clear in follow-up and driving work to completion.
  • Curious in nature, is open to continued learning and growth in all dimensions.
  • Strong representation of the company's mission, vision, and values.

The expected salary range for this position is $145,000 – $160,000, based on experience and alignment with role expectations. In addition to base compensation, we offer a competitive equity package, comprehensive health benefits, and flexible work arrangements
