Position Summary
We're looking for an enthusiastic Junior Data Engineer to join our growing data team and contribute to our mission of improving digestive health outcomes. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their data engineering career to gain hands-on experience with healthcare data while working alongside experienced mentors. You'll help build and maintain data pipelines that directly impact patient care while developing your technical skills in a supportive, learning-focused environment.
What You'll Learn and Contribute:
Build and maintain data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and reporting with guidance from senior team members
Support Data Science and Business Intelligence teams with data preparation and quality assurance
Help monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline issues under supervision
Contribute to improving data quality and pipeline reliability initiatives
Learn to work with distributed systems and cloud technologies
Write clean, well-documented code following established team practices
Key Responsibilities:
Develop well-documented, tested data pipelines following team coding standards and best practices
Participate in code reviews and collaborative design sessions to continuously improve your technical skills
Work closely with product stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
Support data quality monitoring and help identify and resolve data issues
Contribute to team documentation and knowledge sharing initiatives
Stay curious and continuously learn new technologies and techniques

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, OR equivalent experience through bootcamps, self-study, or professional projects
0-2 years of experience with data engineering, analytics, or related technical roles (internships and personal projects count!)
Basic proficiency with SQL and Python (we'll help you grow these skills!)
Familiarity with or interest in learning modern data tools like dbt, Airflow, or cloud platforms
Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for learning in a collaborative environment
Interest in healthcare technology and improving patient outcomes
Preferred Qualifications:
Coursework or personal projects involving databases, data analysis, or cloud computing
Any exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) through coursework or personal exploration
Basic understanding of software development practices like version control (Git)
Previous internship or project experience with data analysis or engineering
Interest in or exposure to healthcare data (through coursework, volunteering, or personal interest)

Compensation Range: $85K - $100K
