What you will do:
Responsible for building impactful healthcare technology on a modern tech stack. Specific duties
will include:
- Working closely with Cohere engineers to plan, deploy, and support high-availability
solutions. - Continuously analyzing the performance of cloud resources and infrastructure, identifying areas for optimization to improve speed, reduce latency, and lower costs. This involves managing cloud resource utilization effectively to avoid over-provisioning and ensuring efficient scaling practices.
- Leading the creation and enforcement of DevOps standards, best practices, and policies to ensure consistency across the team. This includes creating comprehensive guidelines for code quality, deployment processes, and incident response procedures, ensuring smooth collaboration between development and operations teams.
- Providing leadership and mentorship to DevOps Engineers, helping them develop technical skills, adhere to best practices, and grow within the team. This includes conducting regular training sessions, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing practices.
- Implementing and managing tools supporting Cohere’s engineering teams and infrastructure including monitoring and alerting, performing Continuous Integration/Continuous Development, and version control.
- Automating the compilation, testing, packaging, and release of Cohere’s software platform.
- Overseeing the use of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices for managing and automating infrastructure across development, staging, and production environments. This includes maintaining and refining existing IaC frameworks (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation), ensuring seamless transitions between environments and compliance
with organizational standards. - Contributing across all parts of Cohere Health's platform infrastructure, from access management to the internal and end-user application deployments, using Terraform, Chef, Github Actions (CICD), Docker, ELK, Kafka, Grafana, Prometheus, Java
Grails/Spring/Springboot, MongoD and AWS. - Designing and managing highly scalable production infrastructure in regulated environments, including cloud platforms (AWS), automation tools (Terraform, CloudFormation), and configuration management (Chef, Puppet).
- Integrating security measures into the DevOps pipeline and ensuring necessary network security guard rails are in place.
- Provisioning, maintaining, and supporting Data Analytics/Machine Learning infrastructure and model development/deployment.
- Building and maintaining disaster recovery runbooks and utilizing the incident management response for infrastructure incidents enabling reliability and availability of cohere applications.
- Continuously discovering, evaluating, and implementing new technologies or services to maximize development efficiency.
Your background & requirements:
Position requires a bachelor’s degree (or an equivalent foreign degree) in Computer Science, IT, or a closely related field and 4 years of experience working as a Software Developer.
Must also have 4 years of experience (which can have been gained concurrently with the primary requirements above) working with the following:
- Implementing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub Actions (self-hosted), and setting up and managing self-hosted ELK stack, AWS OpenSearch, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, and cloud cost observability solutions.
- Linux system administration, networking, and application deployment/maintenance using Terraform, Chef, Docker, AWS ECS, and Kubernetes to ensure reliable infrastructure.
- Administering MongoDB and AWS RDS, deploying and maintaining self-hosted MongoDB instances, and managing SFTP integration for secure file transfers.
- Ruby, Python, Java, Groovy, and Grails/Spring Boot frameworks.
- AWS SageMaker, Bedrock, data/model versioning, and managing DataOps tools, including AWS EMR, Tableau, and Airflow for optimized data pipelines and analytics.
- Designing and automating IAM procedures for AWS role-based access, integrating security into pipelines with Lacework and Wiz, and managing secure VPN connections using OpenVPN and Twingate.
This is a telecommuting position working from home. May reside anywhere in the United States.

The salary range for this position is $172,000 annually; as part of a total benefits package which includes health insurance, 401k and bonus. In accordance with state applicable laws, Cohere is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. Individual pay decisions are ultimately based on a number of factors, including but not limited to qualifications for the role, experience level, skillset, and internal alignment.
