| Lead Product Designer About b.well Connected Health Healthcare is broken by fragmentation. Patients juggle dozens of disconnected portals, carry clipboards full of forms, and struggle to make sense of their own health data. b.well Connected Health exists to fix that. We are a healthcare technology company on a mission to transform healthcare into a simple, on-demand experience, one where consumers are truly at the center. Our platform unifies fragmented health data from hundreds of sources (clinical, claims, device, wearables, etc.) into a single AI-ready longitudinal health record, powering connected digital health experiences for health plans, providers, employers, and the world's leading technology companies. Our partnerships with OpenAI, Samsung, Google, and Perplexity, and our commitment to the CMS-Aligned Network, reflect our position at the forefront of healthcare interoperability. Products like bailey™, our white-label AI health assistant, and the b.well Health AI SDK are redefining what's possible when great data meets great design. If you believe that patients should access their health records as easily as they board a plane, and that design can genuinely change healthcare, this is your role. The Role We are hiring a Lead Product Designer to own and elevate the end-to-end user experience across b.well's product ecosystem. This is a high-impact, highly visible role that sits at the intersection of AI, healthcare data, and consumer-grade digital experience. You will design experiences that make complex, often intimidating health data feel simple, actionable, and empowering: for consumers navigating their care, for developers building on our SDK, and for enterprise clients deploying bailey as their own branded AI health assistant. This is not a role for a pixel-pusher. We are looking for a designer who leads with curiosity, backs decisions with data, and operates as a true thought partner to product managers, engineers, and executives. You will shape design strategy, define how AI interactions feel and behave, and help build a culture where experience quality is a genuine competitive advantage. This role is full time and open to fully remote work. What You'll Do Strategy and Vision - Own the product design vision for key product areas, including bailey™, the b.well Health AI SDK, and consumer-facing health experiences
- Translate b.well's mission (simplify healthcare, consumer-first data control, seamless care navigation, healthcare shoppability) into design principles, patterns, and north-star product experiences
- Partner with the CPO and product leadership to influence roadmap priorities through a design lens
- Identify and advocate for experience gaps before they become product debt
Data-Informed Design - Use quantitative data and qualitative research together to drive design decisions, not just validate them after the fact
- Define the metrics that matter for each product area (activation, task completion, comprehension, engagement) and hold your design work accountable to them
- Act as a thought partner to product managers and stakeholders, bringing a data-backed point of view into prioritization conversations, not just execution ones
- Instrument designs with clear success criteria and collaborate with analytics to close the loop post-launch
- Run structured usability studies, synthesize behavioral signals, and translate findings into clear product recommendations that the whole team can act on
AI and Conversational UX - Design the interaction model for agentic AI experiences, including how users converse with, trust, and take action through bailey™ and partner-embedded AI health assistants
- Define how AI recommendations, clinical data, and care actions surface in ways that are clear, trustworthy, and accessible to non-clinical audiences
- Establish standards for AI explainability, confidence signaling, and graceful failure states in health contexts
Health Data Experience - Design experiences that make longitudinal health records, clinical summaries, lab results, medication histories, and care gaps legible and actionable for everyday consumers
- Work with data and engineering teams to surface the right signal from b.well's 350+ integrated data sources without overwhelming or alarming users
- Apply deep empathy for users navigating chronic conditions, complex care journeys, or varying levels of health literacy
Design Execution - Lead end-to-end design across discovery, definition, design, and delivery, from user research and journey mapping through high-fidelity prototypes and production QA
- Maintain and evolve a scalable design system that supports white-label customization for enterprise clients across health plans, providers, and tech partners
- Design across surfaces: mobile (iOS and Android), web, and embedded SDK components
- Collaborate closely with frontend engineers to ensure design intent is realized with precision
Leadership and Culture - Mentor and grow junior and mid-level designers, establishing craft standards and giving direct, actionable feedback
- Champion research as an ongoing practice, not a one-time phase, and synthesize insights into decisions the team can act on
- Facilitate design reviews, critique sessions, and cross-functional alignment workshops
- Be a visible advocate for design thinking across the organization
What We're Looking For Must-Haves - 7+ years of product design experience, with at least 2 years in a lead or senior lead capacity
- A portfolio that demonstrates mastery of complex, data-rich UX across consumer-facing products, with clear articulation of the problem, your process, the metrics you tracked, and the outcomes
- Proven experience designing consumer products at scale (B2C, high-engagement mobile or web apps), where users have choices and low tolerance for friction
- Deep experience designing AI-powered or conversational interfaces, including chat, assistants, or agentic workflows
- A genuine practice around data: you know how to instrument a design, read a funnel, run an A/B test, and use what you find to make the next decision
- Experience building or contributing to design systems at scale, including component documentation and governance
- Strong skills in Figma (prototyping, auto-layout, variables, component libraries)
- Exceptional ability to communicate design rationale and research findings to product, engineering, and executive stakeholders
Strong Differentiators - Background in B2C consumer products with millions of users, such as fintech, wellness, fitness, navigation, insurance, or financial services apps, where simplifying complexity is the core design challenge
- Experience designing white-label or multi-tenant products where a single design system must express many brands
- Familiarity with health data or clinical terminology, or a demonstrable track record of ramping quickly in domain-heavy industries
- Experience designing developer-facing products (SDKs, APIs, developer portals, documentation UI)
- Understanding of health equity, accessibility, and plain language design principles
- Prior work on products subject to regulatory or compliance requirements (HIPAA, SOC 2, financial regulations, etc.)
- Experience designing identity verification or privacy consent flows
What Success Looks Like - In 30 days: You have shipped something small and meaningful. You have done a full product audit, mapped experience gaps, and have a clear point of view. You know every engineer and PM on your team by name.
- In 90 days: You are leading design on a meaningful feature and the quality bar has visibly risen. You have run at least one user research study, connected it to a metric, and shared findings with the broader team. Your design system contributions are already being used.
- In 6 months: You have influenced the roadmap, not just shipped it. Bailey's AI interaction model feels coherent and trustworthy. Enterprise clients can white-label our platform without heroics. You are actively growing someone on the team.
- In 12 months: You are the design voice in the room when the company makes its biggest product bets, and people actively want you there.
