You'll solve complex healthcare challenges through user-centered design and evidence-based research methodologies, setting the vision and standards for how we approach every user interaction. With a proven track record of leading design and research initiatives in healthcare technology and driving meaningful user outcomes, you'll be the ambassador of exceptional user experiences that transform our FHIR-based platform and strengthen our market leadership and differentiation.

This position is available for fully remote work.

What You'll Do:

This is a hybrid management and individual contributor role within our UX team, which operates as part of the broader Product Management organization. You'll manage and build diverse design and research teams—including FTEs, offshore resources, contractors, and agencies—while contributing hands-on to strategic design and research initiatives.

You'll champion Design and Experience ownership with shared accountability for improving engagement metrics across the enterprise. Your leadership influence will be critical in guiding product and engineering teams toward user-centered outcomes, shaping our design direction across multi-channel platforms including AI-enabled interactions. This role demands both strategic vision and tactical expertise to analyze complex healthcare workflows, synthesize research insights, and rapidly develop innovative solutions that drive meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Development

  • Create and deliver a compelling vision that supports the product roadmap, leading by example to inspire creativity, innovation, and modernized healthcare experiences
  • Develop and execute hiring plans, including job descriptions, success profiles, and onboarding processes
  • Mentor designers and researchers through 1:1s, workshops, and performance feedback, nurturing staff for growth and development opportunities
Strategic Vision & Cross-Functional Influence
  • Lead and influence product decisions across product and engineering teams, driving healthy discussions on user experience and engineering tradeoffs to align on strategic goals and deliver user-centric outcomes
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders, particularly the engagement team on customer lifecycle and retention strategies to achieve OKRs and improve enterprise-wide engagement metrics
  • Partner with marketing to ensure consistent brand and content alignment throughout the product
  • Champion b.well's design philosophies across the organization, promoting user-centric and innovative approaches
  • Establish and maintain enterprise capabilities and processes, including accessibility standards and consistent design review processes with product
Hands-On Design Execution
  • Drive design ideation, vision, and execution of b.well's digital consumer experience while contributing directly to strategic initiatives
  • Lead design strategy through journey maps, experience frameworks, and high-level prototypes, guiding collaborative design sessions to align teams
  • Simplify complex concepts using visualizations and storytelling to create intuitive and engaging user experiences
  • Oversee and enforce the platform's design system, ensuring consistency and scalability across all touchpoints
  • Independently propose innovative design solutions that enhance user experience and drive meaningful change
Research & Insights
  • Lead user research strategy and translate insights into actionable design and product decisions that drive measurable improvements
  • Analyze complex healthcare workflows and synthesize research insights to rapidly develop innovative solutions that drive meaningful impact
Required Experience:
  • 10+ years of experience leading digital product design for mobile and web experiences, with demonstrated expertise in building and evolving design systems at scale
  • 5+ years in a leadership role managing and developing diverse design and research teams, with a proven track record of delivering impactful results
  • Strong foundation in user research methodologies, including conducting user interviews, usability testing, and translating insights into strategic product decisions
  • Deep expertise in modern UX/UI design principles and tools (Figma, Miro, etc.), with experience creating responsive designs for both web and native applications.
  • Experience crafting AI-enabled interactions around search, voice, chat, personalized insights and recommendations.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive product decisions through excellent communication, presentation, and strategic thinking skills
  • Strong understanding of technical, scalable, and user-centric product development with a focus on engagement, accessibility, and healthcare interoperability
  • Experience establishing and managing design operations, including design review processes, governance frameworks, and team workflows
