The Senior Director, Commercial Contracting on the Strategic Payer Partnerships team will execute Aledade’s Commercial value-based care contracts with national and regional health plans as we help primary care providers shift into value-based care.
In addition to renegotiating existing health plan agreements and negotiating new value based contracts with health plans, the Senior Director will play a leading role in new relationship development with Commercial health plans. This includes identifying high potential partners and geographies, as well as leading internal teams to support the initial fact-finding phase and eventual negotiation process.
This role will be expected to focus on supporting and mentoring junior team members so that they can take more active roles managing projects and contracts. This role will report to the VP, Commercial Contracting.

Primary Duties:

  • Independently lead negotiations and renegotiations of Commercial value-based care contracts with prospective health plan partners, which may include: proactively engaging with health plan partners to improve terms, assessing and drafting contractual language, establishing initial contract terms, tracking deliverables, interfacing with internal teams, compiling data, reporting updates and executing value-based care contracts for Commercial members/patients
  • Develop a deep knowledge of Aledade’s existing Commercial contract terms and preferred approaches to value-based reimbursement components, and act as the internal expert for contract questions for teams across Aledade
  • Oversee and mentor junior team members leading or working on Commercial negotiations
  • Co-lead business development and new health plan partnership efforts with VP in support of new multi-year risk arrangements
  • Develop and nurture relationships with key stakeholders within Aledade and at health plan partners

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in healthcare with health plans or provider groups working on contract negotiations within value-based care
  • Bachelor’s degree

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Results-oriented with the ability to exercise influence to achieve goals rather than control
  • Proven track record of creating, maintaining, and enhancing relationships and communicating effectively with senior management
  • Passionate about driving the shift from fee-for-service to value based care
  • Master’s degree or other advanced degrees in management, health services research, health and/or public policy, or other relevant fields is preferred.
  • Expert sales, business development, growth professional at local and national level

Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting for prolonged periods of time. Extensive use of computers and keyboard. Occasional walking and lifting may be required.
  • Ability to travel
