We are seeking a new member of our Impact Analytics team at Aledade to support the prioritization and evaluation of Aledade's population health interventions, create and analyze datasets that answer pressing business and policy questions, and work closely with stakeholders across Aledade to communicate and implement the team’s insights. This person will design and conduct analyses that leverage Medicare claims data within the CMS Virtual Research Data Center (VRDC), and other data sources as needed. They will work in cross-functional teams to clarify key performance and policy questions facing the business and bring data to inform strategic and tactical decision making. The successful candidate will have experience with health care data sources, including claims, strong critical thinking and programming skills, and a passion for the intricacies of value based care.
We are flexible with respect to geographic location. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working remotely within the US, with occasional travel for in-person meetings–roughly 3-4 times per year for 2-3 days at a time. There are several regional office options for those who prefer to work in person.

As a Research Scientist/Senior Research Scientist, you will be responsible for:

  • Utilizing payer data and other sources as appropriate to understand drivers of ACO performance and opportunities for improvement in Aledade’s shared savings contracts.
  • Designing and executing descriptive and predictive analyses to identify opportunities to improve care delivery, support population health product development, and inform Aledade’s growth strategy.
  • Employing predictive analysis techniques to target population health interventions and identify strategies that are likely to succeed.
  • Partnering with colleagues in Performance, Finance, Product, Quality, and other domains to develop and clarify business questions, think critically about solutions, and contribute to cross-departmental performance efforts.
  • Supporting the development, improvement, and maintenance of data products within the VRDC
  • Working with teams across Aledade to identify implications of analysis results and translate findings into action. Presenting analysis results to internal audiences.
  • Serving as subject matter expert on study design and quantitative analysis methods. Providing consultation services to other analysts and members of other teams across Aledade. Mentoring staff in areas of expertise.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in health services research, mathematics/statistics, epidemiology, biostatistics, economics, finance or related field with demonstrated familiarity with causal inference and applying experimental and quasi-experimental methods (e.g., randomized trials; regression discontinuity, difference-in-differences, instrumental variables, and matched designs).
  • Expertise in value based care and Medicare and/or Medicare Advantage policy, plan operations, data, and financial methodologies.
  • Deep experience with health care data sources such as payer claims, electronic health record, event notification, clinical, and patient reported data. Previous experience in the CMS VRDC is a plus.
  • Advanced data manipulation skills, including a strong foundation in SAS programming.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct nuanced analyses to produce accurate and unbiased results and tell the story of those results in data visualizations and reports.
  • Knowledge of standard methods for measuring health care utilization, spending, quality, and outcomes; risk adjustment; provider profiling; and related analytical tasks.
  • Intense attention to detail and data quality assurance; ability to validate results and investigate abnormalities or unexpected results
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage competing deadlines and priorities.
  • Desire to think beyond their immediate team and contribute to making Aledade holistically better (active engagement in D&I efforts, culture initiatives, facilitating training, leading roundtables, etc.)
Who We Are:
Aledade, a public benefit corporation, exists to empower the most transformational part of our health care landscape - independent primary care. We were founded in 2014, and since then, we've become the largest network of independent primary care in the country - helping practices, health centers and clinics deliver better care to their patients and thrive in value-based care. Additionally, by creating value-based contracts across a wide variety of payers, we aim to flip the script on the traditional fee-for-service model. Our work strengthens continuity of care, aligns incentives, and ensures primary care physicians are paid for what they do best - keeping patients healthy. If you want to help create a health care system that is good for patients, good for practices and good for society - and if you're eager to join a collaborative, inclusive and remote-first culture - you've come to the right place.
