About the role

We are looking for a Principal Technical Programme Manager to deliver cross-functional programmes distributed over multiple teams and groups at Ada. These programmes range from highly visible customer initiatives to programmes to raise the bar simplifying our architecture, and streamlining our development processes in a regulated environment. All to meet ambitious business objectives over the next few years.

The right candidate will possess a strong technical and programme management background, will have successfully managed multi-discipline, highly visible/complex initiatives, and will have a well-rounded technical background. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity and competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level company-wide strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done.

As a Principal TPM, you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, and then deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected. Maturity, high judgement, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent and leadership are essential to success in this role.

Responsibilities include working with product management as well as medical and regulatory experts to define strategy and requirements, identifying and securing commitment from teams across the company for new initiatives, driving consensus on the technical approach, setting timelines, and leading cross-functional development teams from design through delivery. You'll need to be a strong project manager with technical and business acumen as well as an excellent communicator at all levels.

The ideal candidate is an influential technical leader with a knack for getting things done, who is able to separate what's important from what's urgent and find the best path forward from among multiple scenarios, earn the trust of stakeholders, and improve the efficiency of our cross-functional organisation.

What you'll do

  • Own and be accountable for cross-organisation delivery of long-term customer initiatives as well as initiatives focused on product development excellence, efficiency and adherence to standards related to building software as a medical device (SaMD).
  • Partner with the product, medical, engineering and regulatory stakeholders to drive these critical programmes.
  • Identify, assess and mitigate risks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs balancing the business needs versus constraints.
  • Clearly communicate vision, plans and project status to management and key technical and business stakeholders.
  • Create, maintain and disseminate project information to stakeholders.
  • Lead systems design, architecture, and scaling discussions.
  • Argue for the right outcomes with data, conviction, and diplomacy.
  • Help define and build out a TPM capability at Ada and mentor other TPMs we hire.

What you'll bring

  • 7+ years experience of working directly with engineering teams, with a proven track record.
  • 7+ years experience of technical product or programme management experience
  • 5+ years of software development experience.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex Experience managing programmes across cross-functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules.
  • Experience in working with service vendors as part of solutions.
  • Experience in owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition.
  • A nice to have is experience working in a regulated environment, even better with experience of developing SaMD solutions.
  • You are fluent in English, spoken and written.
